June 3rd, 2010

In yesterday's game the Astros beat the Nationals by a score of 5-1. Wandy Rodriguez started for the Astros and pitched well, allowing 5 hits and 1 run through 5 innings while collecting a season high with 8 strikeouts. However, it took 115 pitches to get through those 5 innings and he was replaced by Wilton Lopez in the 6th inning.
Lopez was replaced by Tim Byrdak in the seventh, who faced 3 batters before being replaced by Casey Daigle, his first major league game since 2006. After Daigle, Gustavo Chacin closed out the game in a non-save situation. Altogether the bullpen combined to allow 2 hits and no walks while recording 5 strikeouts. Carlos Lee hit a 2-run home run and Hunter Pence hit a 2 RBI triple.

In today's game, the Astros play the Nationals for the 4th and final game of the series. Brian Moehler starts against J.D Martin, both making their 2nd start of the season. Moehler is starting due to Bud Norris being on the Disabled List, and Martin is trying to keep his new spot in what could be his last start because of Stephen Strasburg making his start June 8.
